I love editing.

My name is Aacharee Ungsriwong (formerly known as Machima Ungsriwong). You can also call me Ohm. I’m a film editor based in New York.

The films I edited have screened at Toronto, Locarno, Berlin, Sundance, New Directors/New Films and other film festivals.

My passion for filmmaking started when I watched Hirokazu Koreeda’s Nobody Knows. I watched it in the cinema twice and countless times on DVD. It made such an impact on my life by broadening the way I look at cinema and the world.

I spent my teenage years figuring out which part of filmmaking I love the most and after doing various jobs on set, ranging from serving water to producing, I realized that I fell in love with editing. I love creating new meanings and emotions through editing. It’s very powerful and magical.

I started my editing career when I was 19. I was an assistant editor of Lee Chatametikool in 2010 when he edited Hi-so (directed by Aditya Assarat) and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival.

The first feature film I edited was In April The Following Year, There Was A Fire (directed by Wichanon Somumjarn), which had its World Premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012 (in competition).

By The Time It Gets Dark was the second feature film I edited. This time, I edited alongside Lee. The film premiered at Locarno International Film Festival 2016 (in competition). It won many awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Editing at Subhannahong (Thailand National Film Awards)

In addition to editing feature films, I edit international short films and commercial films. I have worked with brands like Chevrolet, Accenture and Agoda.

I have a BA in Filmmaking and Philosophy and an MSc in Financial Investing and Risk Management. I lived in the Czech Republic as an exchange student from 2007-2008 and I also spent a year in England as a charity worker (2013).

My goal is to continue editing interesting projects and keep helping directors make the best films possible from the footage they have.
